Changes made to leaf pick up service

September 16, 2011

The 2011 leaf pick-up season will begin for Butler Township residents on October 17 and will continue through December 16.  Although Waste Management will continue to pick up the clear leaf bags with regular trash pick-up and recycle the leaves, there are several changes to leaf pick-up this year.

  • The township will order one-half the normal quantity of leaf bags, so only one packet of 25 bags per household may be picked up this fall.  The number of leaf bags is being reduced in order to limit the amount of trash being disposed of, thus preventing a hike in trash fees for 2012.
  • To receive leaf bag packets, all residents must show proof of residency and may only pick up their own household’s packet – not those for a neighbor or other family members outside their household.
  • Residents are required to leave filled bags out for pick-up during their regular trash service day during their regular trash service day during the October 17 through December 16 leaf pick-up period.
  • Any leaves raked into the street or gutter will not be picked up by the Township.

Storm Debris Removal

September 6, 2011

Waste Management will pick up limb debris from the storm on your regular trash day, however the limbs must be in 4′ x 2′  tied bundles and sitting at the curb.  If you are unable to remove all of the limbs, you can take them to the North Incinerator located on Webster Street for a small fee or the Township has it brush drop off starting October 15th to November 19th for residents only.
