NEWS: Electric Aggregation Program Bulletin

June 29, 2017

Butler Township residents voted in favor of the electric aggregation program on November 8, 2016.

Butler Township is providing residents with the opportunity to join with other residents and businesses to receive preferred rates on the electric you use. The program is possible through a concept call governmental aggregation, where Township officials bring together citizens to gain group-buying power for the purchase of electric from a retail supplier certified by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. As an eligible resident or small business, you will be automatically enrolled in the program unless you choose to opt-out (not participate) by July 13, 2017 by completing and returning the reply card attached or by calling 1-888-682-2170.

Under this arrangement, Dynegy has been selected as the Township preferred electricity provider. Dynegy Inc. is an electric company based at 312 Walnut Street, Suite 1500, Cincinnati, OH 45202.

Residents and businesses will begin receiving a rate of $0.0539 per kWh through your August 2020 billing period. There is no cost for the enrollment and you will not be charged a switching fee. You do not need to do anything to be a part of the program.

Todd Flohre has served as a part-time Butler Township firefighter/paramedic for the past five years, and gained additional experience working part-time for Washington Township. He is a certified technician for ice rescue and hazardous materials.

“With their highly specialized skill sets, Ryan and Todd are excellent additions to our staff,” said Fire Chief Dan Alig.

K-9 A Hero!

September 12, 2016

Zorro’s special talents made a critical difference in a September 2015 incident. Officers were called to a traffic crash, but before they arrived, an intoxicated person ran from the scene on foot. The K-9 was able to track the person to a wooded area, where he was found unconscious. Officers removed him, and he received medical treatment.

Zorro’s handler, Officer Harlow, said she does not believe they would have located the person without the K-9, because of the dense wooded area in which he was hidden.

On Wednesday, June 10th, Zorro the newest member of the police department was sworn in at the Township Trustees Meeting.  Dr. Jason Thorn from the Dixie Veterinary Clinic presented Police Chief Cresie with a check for $1000 to buy a bullet and stab resistant vest for Zorro.  Dr. Thorn and his staff has been wonderful supporters of the police department and the canine program, and he raised the money for the vest through donations from the community.  We are very appreciative of all the support for Zorro and the police department.
