Full-time Firefighter/Paramedic

Butler Township is a community of approximately 7,900 residents within an 18 square mile community located in Montgomery County, Ohio (just north of Dayton at the interchange of I-70 and I-75). The Township is a widely diverse community that includes a busy business district, upscale residential neighborhoods and farms.

The Butler Township Fire Department is currently a combination fire department with full-time, part-time, and volunteer personnel. We are accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the Firefighter/Paramedic position on a 24/48 shift schedule. Lateral entry candidates considered in accordance with union contract. The department is a progressive organization that boasts outstanding working conditions as well as excellent facilities and equipment.

The minimum qualifications for the positions are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current State of Ohio: EMT-Paramedic certification; Level II Firefighter Certification or equivalent; Fire Safety Inspector(within one year of appointment); also Hazardous Material Operation certificate; NIMS certification; current certification in; ACLS,CPR, and ability to obtain EMS Local Operating Protocol; valid Driver’s License
  • Must maintain required continuing education hours as required to maintain all certifications

 Any or all of the following testing and screening procedures may be utilized during the hiring process: written exam; oral examination; practical examination; psychological; polygraph or CVSA; background investigation; and credit check.

Administration/Zoning Department

Accepting Applications for Code Enforcement Officer

BUTLER TOWNSHIP, Montgomery County, Ohio, is seeking an innovative, energetic person to serve as a Code Enforcement Officer which would perform duties necessary to enforce the provision of various codes, rules and regulations adopted by the Township. The Code Enforcement Officer is responsible for all residential and commercial regulations under the Butler Township Zoning Resolution and Property Maintenance Code.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent or completion of trade or technical school and have 2 years of related experience in planning, zoning, code enforcement, law enforcement, building inspection, construction, or similar field.

The Code Enforcement position is part-time at 20-25 hours per week. Hours are flexible, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. The starting hourly rate is $13.00-$15.00 per hour, depending upon qualifications.
