Police Department

Police Department Hiring Police Officer / Lateral Entry

The Police Department currently has an open full-time police officer / lateral entry position available. Employees in this class are responsible for protection of life and property, prevention of crime, apprehension of criminals, and general enforcement of laws and ordinances. Work is performed in accordance with Department rules and regulation, and normally consists of duties and routine patrol and both initial and follow-up investigations. Work involves an element of personal danger. Employees must be able to act without direct supervision and to exercise independent discetion in meeting emergencies; however, advice and consulation from a superior officer is usually available. Salary Range $27.57 – $32.24 per hour

The minimum qualifications for the position are:

  • Current Police Officer Certification by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission
  • At least 1 year of Full Time Service as a Police Officer or
  • At least 2 years Part-Time Service as a Police Officer or
  • At least 3 years Auxiliary or Reserve Service as a Police Officer
  • US Citizen & at least 21 years old
  • HS Graduate or GED
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License; good driving record
  • Eye sight correctable to 20/30
  • Possess the physical ability to perform the tasks associated with the position
  • No previous felony convictions

Fire Department

Part Time Firefighter/EMT, Firefighter/ Paramedic or Paramedic                                            

Butler Township is a community of approximately 7,900 residents within an 18 square mile community located in Montgomery County, Ohio (just north of Dayton at the interchange of I-70 and I-75). The Township is a widely diverse community that includes a busy business district, upscale residential neighborhoods and farms.

The Butler Township Fire Department is currently a combination fire department made up of full-time and part-time personnel. We are accepting applications for part-time personnel.   The department is a progressive organization that boasts outstanding working conditions as well as excellent facilities and equipment.

The minimum qualifications for the positions are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current State of Ohio certification: Paramedic certification OR Level II Firefighter Certification or equivalent/ EMT; OR Level II Firefighter Certification or equivalent/ Paramedic; also Hazardous Material Operation certificate; NIMS certification; current certification in; ACLS (Paramedics),CPR, and ability to obtain EMS Local Operating Protocol; valid Driver’s License
  • Must maintain required continuing education hours as required to maintain all certifications

Service Department


BUTLER TOWNSHIP (Montgomery County, OH) is seeking an energetic candidate who is willing to learn the trade of Service Worker I (SWI) in the Service Department. A Service Worker I will perform various types of physical manual labor associated with public works and streets: operating light to medium types of motor equipment and hand tools, cleaning catch basins and ditch lines, road maintenance, concrete and asphalt repair, building maintenance, mowing grass, cutting/trimming of trees, cemetery maintenance and burials, building and repairing drainage structures, sign fabrication, vehicle maintenance and snow removal.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent or completion of trade or technical school in a related field. Seasonal Help

The Butler Township Service Department is seeking candidates for seasonal employment for grass cutting & road maintenance. Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, be 18 years old and have valid Ohio driver’s license. Pay rate is $10 to $12 per hour, depending on experience. Physical and drug screen required.
