“Small businesses throughout our community have faced significant challenges over the past year starting with the 2019 Memorial Day tornadoes and then the loss of revenue due to COVID-19,” said Vandalia-Butler Foundation Board of Trustees President Jean Maychack.  “The Vandalia-Butler Foundation recognizes the vital role our small businesses play in creating jobs and growing the economy and a Small Business Opportunity Grant can help to mitigate the impacts of recent events.”

The Vandalia-Butler Foundation Small Business Opportunity Grant was established in memory of Butler Township resident Ron Gearhart.  In 2019, The Vandalia-Butler Foundation’s Small Business Opportunity Grant was presented to Allen Lay of Kona Ice for business expansion in Vandalia and Butler Township.

Recipients are selected via a competitive application process.  The 2020 grant will be awarded in September.
