Township Welcomes New Police Chief and a New Property Maintenance Inspector

The Trustee’s approve the appointment of John M. Porter to the position of Chief of Police Butler Township at a special meeting held on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 3:30p.m. Mr. Porter will assume the duties of Chief of Police, effective September 9, 2016. Mr. Porter is currently the Deputy of Police with the City of Trotwood working through the ranks over the past 27 years, servicing as patrol officer, detective, sergeant, captain and finally assistant chief. Mr. Porter began his law enforcement career with Madison Township, prior to the merger with the City of Trotwood.
Also the Township would like to welcome Heather Wendel as the new Property Maintenance Inspector. She will begin on Monday, August 15, 2016. She is responsible for enforcing the Property Maintenance Code and zoning regulations, taking property violation complaints from residents and inspecting properties to ensure that codes are being followed. A Dayton resident for most of her life, Heather has a professional background as an environmental consultant with a small, local company, where she gained experience working with government officials, reviewing property records and conducting inspections.
